Houston, We Have Her Name

June 29, 2010

Chloe Sophia Peters!

It’s tuesday morning.  We’re still at the hospital, but we’re free to go at any time.  Lisa’s taking a nap.  After that we head home!

Did you know that these days kids are legally required to be in a child seat until the second year of grad school?

Day One

June 28, 2010

Good morning, it’s Day One here.  Yesterday was quite an experience.  Once labor started happening she arrived quite quick, in just 20 minutes!  The whole experience was remarkably calm compared to what I was expecting.

We’re still working on her name, we’re getting closer.  She arrived at 9:49 am.  Six pounds, four ounces.  19.5 inches.

Everyone’s healthy and happy, though there were two issues we had to get through.  Baby had low blood sugar and as a result the doctors had to keep pricking her foot to check on that (ouch!) and also gave her some formula in addition to the breast feeding.  Lisa had some pretty alarming hemorrhaging and lost a liter of blood.  She’s fine now. However, she was pretty knocked out and needed rest.  We’re expecting to spend one more night in the hospital to rest and recover.

Lisa says she’s up for some visitors.  If you’d like to come by give us a call and we’ll give you the details.

The little girl sure is adorable!

Real Contractions

June 27, 2010

I went home to feed the cats and fell asleep on the couch.  Lisa says that at 3am the real contractions started, came on strong, more than she could handle.  Lisa was hoping to avoid the use of the drugs, but oh well.  She got the epidural.  She’s all woozy now.  We’re going to nap for a bit.  May see the baby sometime this afternoon.

Loo-Dee-Doo

June 26, 2010

Yep. Still waiting.  So here’s the deal, Ally McBeal.  It’s about 8pm here.  The barn door isn’t open yet.  In fact, it’s not even cracked a smidge.  Los medicos are going to do this thingie whatchmacallit to relax the cervix and get it in a baby-having mood.  It’s expected that process will take 12 hours to happen, and then it will likely take another 8-12 hours to baby.

So sports fans, most likely we’re looking at some time tomorrow, and probably a quiet night tonight.
